Coming from a Sales and Marketing background in the pharmaceutical industry, John moved on and started off at 5fm in 1989 on a freelance basis. In 1994 he started on a contract basis with 5 and went later on to join Darren Scott in the ‘Just Plain Show’ daily from 15h00 – 19h00, doing sports as well as Nashua sports trax with Darren between 18h00 and 19h00 daily.
John has since grown out of 5fm being there for quite some time and has moved onto more exciting projects and exploring various fields within the entertainment as well as event industry.
John does not only MC and make appearances at various functions (corporate and personal), he is rated as one of 5fm’s top DJ’s and DJ’s at pubs and clubs throughout the country on a more than regular basis. John specializes in weddings and has done some exclusive ones in the past including James Daltons wedding as well as numerous sportsmen’s 21st and parties. John is a definite must for all corporate functions, Christmas parties, product launches as well as after parties to get that ‘party started’ and make it a very memorable event.

Ready D has been actively involved in Hip-Hop culture since 1983 when he was a break-dancer for the group The Ballastic Rockers. He won the South African DJ champion twice, in 1989 and 1990 and in 1995 he was a judge in the UK VESTAX World DJ Championship.
In 1997 Ready D won the DJ of the Decade Championship. He has been featured in various international and local DJ’ing and music magazines. He competed in the Technics D.M.C. World DJ Championship and is rated amongst the top 30 DJ’s in the world. Ready D has recently returned from New York where he played in the finals for the World DJ Championships.
Ready D played at the Presidential Inauguration of Nelson Mandela and the Quincy Jones Montreux Jazz festival in Switzerland. He appeared alongside POC in the movie Dangerous Ground, starring Ice Cube and Liz Hurley. He is Master of Ceremonies, DJ and producer of the group Brasse Vannie Kaap and also reviews DJ equipment and writes DJ advice for music magazines.
