ANDREW SIMMS

One-man band Andrew Simms plays guitar, congas, and is a singer and percussionist. He uses the latest technology to create a full band sound and sets the mood with expert lighting. Andrew’s professional approach to achieving top musical entertainment for presentations, award ceremonies, product launches, general business functions, wedding receptions and galas has made him a hit locally and internationally.

His vast repertoire ranges from the latest pop, to reggae, jazz, African favorites, Kwaito and even Boere-musiek. He has worked at many well-known pubs throughout South Africa such as Gold Reef City, Sandton Sun, Johannesburg Sun, Cape Sun, The Coachman’s Inn, Wings at Lanseria Airport and the Floating Restaurant on Hartebeespoort Dam.

Andrew focuses on corporate events and has performed many times at South African Breweries functions in Johannesburg H/O, Isando and Denver and is regularly booked by Altech.

 

CLINTON WARING

Clinton Waring is an accomplished pianist, singer, songwriter, keyboard player and performs as a one-man band. He started piano lessons at the age of six. Soon his hobby turned into a passion and the decision to make music his career. Clinton completed his classical piano teaching exam while still in high school and studied Light Music and Jazz at the Pretoria Technikon. As a student he was involved with a number of bands and gained experience playing to live audiences.

Clinton’s professional music career began five years ago when he established himself as a one-man band. He has since had great success and enjoyment as a performer. He specializes in corporate entertainment and playing at weddings and private parties. He is also a regular performer at various restaurants. Clinton’s vast repertoire of music caters to audiences of varied tastes. His ability to ‘read’ a crowd adds to his popularity as a performer.
He is also part of a 4 piece band called “Reign” that plays light sophisticated music and includes 2 vocalists.

 

JACQUES LAGESSE

Jacques Lagesse, alias the Satin Suited Soloist, has a velvet-lined voice, which is accompanied by the mellow tones of acoustic and jazz guitars. Jacques has released two CD’s and being an audio engineer by profession, he focuses on the quality of his sound and guarantees a non-intrusive and soothing ambience.

Jacque’s repertoire consists of a popular brand of laid back jazz standards and evergreen romantic ballads. He has a strong flair for Latin rhythms and includes several Bosa Nova and Samba tunes on his list of 300 songs plus. He has recently introduced a cabaret set featuring the music of the big band swing era, which he performs to backing tracks.

Jacques has performed at many classy corporate events and private parties around the country, including for Revlon, Nokia, Total, PPC, Tiger Milling, Standard Bank, Investec, Volvo, Gensec, Spar, SAP and South African Breweries, he has spent time performing in Dubai at all the major hotels. Jacque’s classic dress sense brings to mind Sinatra in his heyday.
Aside from his full compliment of music and PA equipment, he is able to perform unplugged. Apart from the soft percussive rhythm machine, all of his music is played live. Jacques requires minimal set-up space.

 

JO SAX

Not only is Jo Sax ULTRA-COOL, but he looks like Sean Connery and he plays a KILLER sax! He sings plays the flute, clarinet, guitar, alto, tenor and soprano sax, and keyboards. Born in Dresden, East Germany, Jo worked with various dance bands and toured Germany and Europe with professional show bands. In South Africa he has worked the Southern Sun and Holiday Inn International cabaret circuits. Jo was a founder member of Capricorn, the band who backed international artists Richard Loring, Diane Chandler, Lovelace Watkins, Dicky Henderson, Des O’Connor, Karin Nelson, Tommy Hunt and other well-known artists.

Jo toured with the show band Scott Free in the Gloria Gaynor and Tina Turner shows as a supporting act. In 1980 he established Tradewinds as a jazz and dance band, which worked successfully at the Beacon Isle Hotel, Royal Swazi Spa, Holiday Inn Gabarone and La Montague in Ballito. Jo worked as a music producer for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation before moving to Johannesburg as a freelance musician. He has played with Vinnie & the Viscounts, Johnny Fourie, Dennis East, Rhythm Method, Mike Faure, Soul Purpose, Havanna Gas, Lolly Peterson and various other jazz acts.

Jo has had numerous television appearances and studio recordings. He recorded two solo sax CD’s with Francoise Roos, In the Mood to Dance and Rio by Night. He works as a solo act with backing tracks, or with a live band according to customer’s needs. With Jo’s experience as musician and bandleader, he can confidently assure success in creating the right atmosphere for any function. His repertoire covers jazz, blues, R&B, continental, Rock & Roll, Pop, party music, German and Jewish traditional music performed instrumentally and vocally.

 

SALLY MAZZANTI

Sally Mazzanti has played in the three-piece band, Trick or Treat and was a member of the duo Bit by Bit. She has moved back to Johannesburg from Port Elizabeth where she was living for the past three years. Sally has just completed the Castle Loud Road show with South African Breweries. She plays guitar and uses a laptop with midi files for backing. Her array of music styles can cater to pub gigs, dance music, weddings and corporate functions.

Sally performed as a duo with Johannesburg guitarist Basil Bradley. While living in Port Elizabeth, Sally performed regularly for South African Breweries and played at Castle Corner for the South Africa vs India cricket test match.

Sally has all her own gear including lights, smoke machine and mirror ball if needed and she is able to travel.

 

STEVE BERLINER

Steve Berliner, also known as Stevie B, offers a highly professional service specialising in corporate functions, weddings and private parties. He is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays electric and Spanish guitar, soprano saxophone and flute and is also a vocalist. Steve’s musical style ranges from ballads and standards to current hits as well as Spanish and Latin songs on the classical guitar, and in addition to this, Steve operates a disco.

In April 2002, Steve played at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Cape Town with the jazz outfit Absolute Zero, of which he is a founder member. Absolute Zero’s first album proved to be a great success and is still receiving rave reviews. The band has finished recording their latest album due for release towards the end of 2002.
As a session musician Steve has recorded on albums with numerous South African artists including Carlo Mombelli and Greg Georgiades.

Stevie B’s vast solo repertoire includes music styles to suite any occasion accompanied by excellent quality visuals and sound. His performance incorporates popular dance hits on vocals and electric guitar and he features artists such as The Beatles, Elton John, Chris Rea, Level 42, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Gary Moore, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Westlife, Lue Bega, and many more danceable hit songs.
Steve has played for clients Tsogo Sun Casino, BMW, Absa Bank, The Protea Awards and various embassies.
